Coastal Clash is now offering private lessons throughout San Diego county. You can choose a 1 on 1 individualized private lesson or grab some friends and sign up for a group private lesson for up to 4 people. Our coaches will go just about anywhere in San Diego, featuring 3 locations throughout San Diego county. Don’t see a location or time you like? No problem. General Private Lessons FAQs 

How long is a private lesson?

Our standard private lesson lasts 1 hour, but we can accommodate just about any schedule upon request.

What surface do we play on?

All private lessons at the 3 featured locations will be on field turf similar to what you might see at most high schools in San Diego.

Can you do a private lesson at our house? Or at a park near my house?

Yes! We can coach almost anywhere with enough room and a flat surface. Just let us know your special request and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Are private lessons for everyone?

Yes! No player is too new or too experienced to benefit from a Coastal Clash private lesson. Private lessons are a great way to jump start your field hockey career, as well as for fine tuning a specific skill. 

How do I sign up for a private lesson?

Use the convenient form on this page to sign up for most private lessons. If you have a special request that the form does not address, please contact us to discuss further.

Group Private Lessons FAQs

How does signing up for a group private lesson work?

There are two ways to sign up for a group private lesson. If you already have a group of friends or siblings, use the registration form to sign up by selecting the number of players in the drop down. If you want to practice in a small group but don’t have a group of your own, please contact us and we’ll do our best to pair you will other players just like you.

What if we have a group bigger than 4?

We prefer to keep group private lesson to 4 or less for a variety of reasons, but we would be happy to discuss accommodating a larger group with you. Please contact us for more info.

Private Lesson Payments FAQs 

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept: PayPal, Venmo, Credit card over phone, and LeagueApps site credit.

We currently will not be accepting cash in person due to Covid-19 safety protocols.

How do I pay for a private lesson for 1 player?

Once you’ve completed the private lesson sign up form on this page, you will be prompted to pay via PayPal. If you would like to pay with another method you can follow the directions in your confirmation email after booking.

How do I pay for a group private lesson?

Option 1 (Preferred): Collect $ from players in your group and have 1 person pay us in full.

Option 2: Have each person pay separately. With this option please email us with the contact info of every person in your group.

Day Of Private Lessons FAQs 

What do I need to bring?

Water, athletic shoes or cleats, shin guards, mouth guard, and your field hockey stick. We’ll bring the balls, cones, etc.

Can I wear cleats on the turf?

Yes, the field turf we play on allows all types of athletic shoes including soccer style cleats.

Can I pay in person?

While Covid-19 safety protocols are in place we will not be accepting in person payments. All payments should be paid in advance prior to your arrival.

When should I arrive?

If the athletes are comfortable performing their own warm up, they are welcome to arrive early to warm up and stretch on their own. If you would like the warm up to be coach led, show up as close to the start time as you’d like and we’ll start right on time.

Private Lessons COVID-19 FAQs 

What COVID-19 Protocols will be in place?

Prior to Play:

  • Masks will be worn at all times when not involved in athletics.
  • Coaches will wear masks at all times.
  • Non-contact temperature checks may be administered by the club if the equipment is available, and will be required for all players and coaches. Temperatures must be below 100.4° F to participate.
  • Recommend each athlete has individual hand sanitizer for use
  • Bring enough water for individual use throughout training
  • Don’t attend if you or a member of your household doesn’t feel well

During Play:

  • Players must maintain 6’ social distance to the best of their ability
  • Players do not touch any shared equipment (i.e. Balls, cones, goals, etc.)
  • Avoid handshakes, high fives and other contact related encouragement
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Coaches use verbal cues rather than physical contact when instructing athletes
  • Avoid sharing food, drinks, towels and other personal care items
  • Coaches will utilize drills that allow for players and coaches to spread out and maintain physical distances

After Play:

  • Leave facility as soon as reasonably possible after activity finishes
  • Wash hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after activity
  • Shower and change at home
  • Disinfect all personal equipment
  • Wash all training clothing worn after each session

Are parents allowed to stay and watch?

Although we prefer if parents don’t stay due to the increased risk of spreading COVID-19, we do allow it. We ask that parents follow the local, state, and federal requirements at a minimum; and we encourage parents to take additional cautions to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.
